Technology and/or Materials Needed

  • Computers with Internet access
  • ClarisWorks, Photoshop or any computer paint program
  • LCD projector
  • Digital Camera or scanner

Implementation Time Frame

Two - three class periods

Activities

  1. Warm-up activity: Write 20-30 verbs and nouns on strips of paper and put them into a basket. 2. Have students pick out one verb and one noun and put them together.("Running Pencil" or "Screaming Fish") to create a drawing on the computer.
  2. Take a picture of each student using a digital camera or scan pictures of each student. (Load each student's picture onto separate disks).
  3. Discuss the basic elements of art, focusing on abstract art.
  4. Then, through using the following websites displayed on the LCD projector, discuss the history of color.
